Hello,
My name is Lindsey Platt and I am a sophomore at the University of Texas. I want to share with you an incredible opportunity that God has presented to me. This summer I will be putting on an event in San Antonio in order to fundraise money to donate Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) to African counties for the prevention of Malaria.
The spread of Malaria is a serious issue, killing over 800,000 people per year. Eighty-five percent of these deaths occur in children under five years old. Simply sleeping under an ITN is the most effective form of preventing the spread and contraction of Malaria. Each net covers a family of three! The main goals of this fundraising effort are:
· To raise enough money for 1,000 nets (that is 3,000 lives saved!)
· To bring awareness to this issue
· To witness God using this fundraiser as a source of hope for thousands of lives
I am so excited about the challenging opportunity and experience that lies ahead. I cannot accomplish this task on my own; I need your help! Each net costs ten dollars. My goal is to raise $10,000 by August 2011. The event in San Antonio this summer will not raise nearly enough money to make the impact that I am praying for. I would be so grateful for your financial support. Every dollar counts! However, most importantly, I need your prayers. Prayer is the fuel that will allow this fundraiser to be a success and contribute to saving thousands of lives.
If you would like to be a part of this fundraiser through your financial support, please visit the link on this page: Donate to NBN
While money is important, I truly need your prayers. God has called me to this cause and I believe it will help thousands of lives, not only through the physical prevention of Malaria, but through your prayers. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me. Thank you so much for your consideration.
In His Name,
Lindsey Platt
